With more wind forecast today my plan was to be at The Manor at 10ish and make the most of low water but when Mag returned from her sunrise bike ride she said the wind was very light so was in no hurry to get down! Peter Cutts rang and said he was coming down to park at Landguard carpark so if there was not enough wind he could take his camera to the bird reserve:) After a bit of Xmas shopping I checked the local weather station and the wind was beginning to build so headed down. With no sign of Pete I walked into the reserve but the breeze was coming so I returned to my van and rigged 8.5 on the 310 by which time Pete had returned and started to rig 7.8:) By the time I had my wetsuit on I thought I had made the wrong sail choice??? I decided to try for an hour on the short board which means about 6 runs out to Wadgate Post which meant beating for most of the time and although the water was fairly smooth for half a mile out by the post the sea was a real mess:( I did try a few short broad bursts but it was very slow! then only needing one more run for the hour the wind just disappeared:( It was also not as warm as yesterday and no sign of the sun and as usual for Felixstowe the forecast winds failed to arrive!!! Just as the wind went we were joined on the beach by Chris Stephens,Mark Smalling and Steve Carter and I got cold chatting to them but it was good to have a moan!!! the highlight of the session was spotting a seal a couple of times close to the shore:)
